Easton in Gordano sometimes shortened to "E-I-G" is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. It is within the District of North Somerset and in 2011 the population was 4,828. It is commonly used as a place for commuting to Bristol as it has excellent transport links being close to the M5 and Bristol. It is also close to the Gordano Services on the M5. The main facilities are in the village of Pill or alternatively just a few miles away in Portishead. ==History== In early records Easton in Gordano was known as Estone but for many centuries the village has also been known as St. George. It was mentioned in the ''Domesday Book'' of 1085. The name Gordano comes from Old English and is descriptive of the triangular shape of the whole valley from Clevedon to Portishead, being the ablative singular of the Latinised form of ''Gorden'' meaning ''muddy valley''.
